Make sure thermostat is turned to 120 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Turn the thermostat down and back up to see if it ignites. If it lights put the cover back on and set it to temp you want it to be. if not, you have a bad thermostat.
Hope this helps.

Why does the flame shut off before a hot to warm temperature can be achieved

I would question the Thermo couple. It pretty much runs the whole show. Inexpensive quick fix. It's the small tubing that is connected to the gas valve. The other end is a bulb that sits over the pilot flame.. Remove the old and match it up at the hardware store. Install new coupler ensuring bulb is directly over the pilot flame Common iten. The thermocoupler alks to the gas valve. If the pilot flame extinguishes (goes out) the bulb cools and shuts down the gas valve so the pilot gas feed doesn't permit raw gas to accumulate, avoiding the need emergency Services. . You will not get the heater to fire until the bulb is good and hot. The red push button ,when depressed will allow the pilot flame to be lit. Hold it down until the heater fires, indicating the T-coupler has reached its operating temp.Good Luck-Ned

When you turn on hot water tap the boiler fires up hot water for a few seconds the water becomes cold the boiler flame goes out then fires up again. when the heating on the flames stays on then off then on...

To avoid having a flame in the absence of water flow, the device you mentioned, 'diaphragm,' detects if adequate water is flowing to avoid a dangerous condition. Check on the housing of it for an adjustment screw; it may have a dot of sealant on it since these normally can be adjusted. It sounds as if it is misjudging the quantity of water flowing through and causing the annoying cycling.

Protherm 100EC boiler not firing up

You likely have a flame sensor problem.

If you can wath the ignition proccess, see if you ever notice a flame. If yes, and it then shuts downm, you have a flame sensor failure, replace the sensor and clean the flame burners and orifices.

If no flame at all, then your ignitor is failing, or you are not gatting gas to the ignitor.
