Ok this is how its done. Open your DMZ on your router interface click enable. The IP address you'll have to enter the last digit. This IP address digit is found on your xbox, look under your xbox network setting an get the last digit of IP address an this will only set your xbox to open. bang thats how u fix it. Very simple. any Q's am @ [email protected]
Here is what I believe the correct solutions are:
1. You can set the xbox with a assigned IP and place it in the DMZ for the router.
2. Or you can edit the port forwarding on your router. There are notes on the xbox live forum. In short. port 3074 TCP & UDP forwarded to your xbox IP address.
Rerun your Xbox network tests and see if you get the OPEN instead of STRICT. This will resolve any Xbox Live connection issues.
NAT is just an IP translation table. Typicallly on your side of a router (private side), IP addresses are assigned at the request of the device (Xbox). The router has what is called a DHCP server which does the assigning. This has nothing to do with security. Well, not entirely true as NAT supplies some Internet protection in itself. Using a DHCP address means your address is NOT looking directly at the Internet as most businesses do.
Since you use the word open, I am taking it for granted you are talking about wireless security. Networking Authentication is done either OPEN or shared.
Here are a few things to check:
Make sure router and Xbox are set for the same type of security, WEP or WPA.
Choose 802.11G for the Xbox.
Make sure the Wirless Network name are the same (SSID)
Same radio channel (0-11).
The Workgroup should also be the same
If unsure how to set these, please reply and I'll send more detailed instructions.
Personally,
I would totally disable the WIRELESS security unless you have really sensitive information that you transmit. It is just more software that gets in the way.
Hope this helps.

If you click "NAT" on the home page of the belkin routers interface, it hyperlinks to a page that doesn't even have the option to disable NAT. i called belkin and they said to manually assign the ip address and do the whole dmz thing, which doesn't work cause everything stops working. even the xbox live test won't work. sonext i did the the whole tcp udp thing and got all the port numbers and still it will come up with strict. ther has to be something or some way that i can disable the NAT.
