Make sure the answering machine is turned on for both lines. To check settings: Scroll, using BACK and FWD, to desired setting. 1. Press MENU 2. Scroll to "ANSWERING SYSTEM MENU" then press SELECT 3. Scroll to "LINE 1 SETTINGS" and press SELECT 4. Scroll to "ANSWERING SYSTEM ON/OFF." Check to see if it is set to "ON," as this is the default setting. 5. Exit MENU and Repeat steps 1 thru 4 for LINE 2 SETTINGS. I don't know if you have Acrobat Reader for .pdf files but below is a link to the owner's manual for this phone. With either a Do Not Disturb (DND) or Call Forward all calls command. On a TA-824, DND is set up with the command 714# on the intercom. It will light the DND button. It's cleared with 710#. There is no function to the button, ie you can't push it on and off. If you have voice mail, you can set it to forward all calls via the 711 (vm ext) #. It will blink the FWD/DND button.
As an aside, 7341# stops paging to the phone. 7340# brings it back. Again, these are TA-824 commands.
