My PC can't seem to recognise my Creative Zen Vision M 30gb anymore. It has been working fine but today nothing doing. The display on the device says it is docking when I plug into PC but PC says it is not connected. I have reset the device but still doing it. Help

Thanks for that. I have tried on a different PC and with a different cable. I am getting a "code 10" and exclamation mark on the device manager. Do you think I should uninstall and reinstall or is it likely to be the device itself?

What you have to reset is the PC, not the Zen.

Try unplugging the PC AC cord for ten-fifteen minutes. This will drain power and get rid of electrostatic charges accumulating on USB connector contacts.

If that does not work, check USB status in device manager, and test the Zen with a different cable. Also test the unit on a different computer.

Creative Zen Vision M 30GB wont turn on

Problem could be the combination of a bug that causes the device to freeze and the battery running out. If...
- the player won't turn on
- the player won't connect to PC
- the standard reset action won't work,

plugging the player in the AC charger may pull up the recovery screen which will allow you to proceed and reboot, provided the player has no other eg hardware issues.

Creative zen won't turn on

If you have windows set to do automatic updates, you most likely had a windows update installed that caused this conflict with Win Media Player 11. No fix has been posted by Microsoft yet, so the only workaround is to Uninstall/Rollback Windows Media Player 11. Goto <Control Panel<Add/Remove Programs and remove Windows Media Player 11. Follow prompts, restart computer when prompted to. Also uninstall Windows Media Player 11 Runtime application following same procedure above.
This will roll your Windows Media Player back to version 10 or 9, whichever you had installed prior to version 11. You will need to re-configure Windows Media Player again.

Your Zen should now be recognized by WMP and Creative software. You probably need to upgrade your firmware at this point, follow the instructions on upgrading your firmware, and you should be good to go.

This is a windows problem, not a creative problem. Dont blame Creative for the screwed up hotfixes that Microsoft puts out on a regular basi

Creative Zen Touch firmware problem

This means both systems contain a bug, or cookie. If the firmware you accessed isn't applying itself to the device, this means the system itself has been corrupted. Double check with your system configuration properties on each device, and tell me whats going on from there.

Don't panic!

My screens backlight wont stop flickering

Not really, the screen flickering is due to a faulty circuit inside of the Mp3 player. If you have another one, you might be able to swap out the screen circuits, adn fix it, but this is very difficult.

It could be anything. Check the firmware on the device? Is it a 1.xx.xx or a 2.xx.xx? What version of Windows do you use? Do you have Windows Service Pack 2? Etc? It really could be anything.
