I have a functional problem come up on the display and the code used is "SC320" can you tell me what this code is for, because the book doesn't tell me. The photocopier is Ricoh Aficio 1018
Hi it is the polygon motor failure error
2nd motor down on this link is what you need.

Service manual states -
320 B Polygonal mirror motor error
The polygon mirror motor does not
reach operating speed within 10
seconds after the motor ON signal is
sent, or does not turn on within one of
the 200 ms check intervals during
operation.
fix is
• Polygon mirror motor defective
• Poor connection between the
polygonal mirror motor driver and the
BiCU board
• Damaged cable between BiCU/IOB
and polygonal mirror motor driver
•
poly motor failure is common is copiers, it is a little motor that spins super fast and bonces laser light over page via attached mirror, the motors pack it in, the motor lives inside the laser unit
Yes I change about 3 a week in the field on various makes models, you could try a drop of machine oil on motor shaft but that means pulling it apart, refitting only to find more than likely you will need to replace it anyway
Good to hear Sara, did you replace motor or just lube it? I'm impressed good on you!
Cheers Sarah, if it goes again just replace that motor.
Merry Copying to you

For the Aficio 1018. SC-320 is laser failure - the polygon mirror motor inside the laser has failed and needs replacing. You will need to contact your nearest service agent for repair.
For your RICOH Aficio 1013F - SC-551 is overheat in standby mode as far as I can tell. The circuitry that controls the fuser section ie manages the heat has problem. Unless its right near a source of heat like a heater or has no circulation around you machine you will need contact a repair agent for this machine also.
