When turning the car's acc power on or off the CD changer makes lots of sounds (like it's looking for CD's). It's obviously getting power but the open button on the changer unit does nothing. I have tried with the car running, just acc power, and completely off. No response.
Anyone know of an emergency release as I believe the button has gone bad.

Hi,
You will need to power the unit to eject the cartridge you only need a 12v source, any car battery etc. Then you just do it like you always do it. It is correct that it is not operating without power.
Wish there was an easier way for you, but hooking it up to power is not to difficult.
Good luck and if you need any other info on the device let me know,
Lee

I fixed my similar problem by applying 12v to the unit according to the pinout found here:

(note that -12v goes to the connector barrel)

there is a way to get it working with the ford radio as long as the ford radio is cd changer compatible. You can purchase an adaptor from a dealer of autoleads. They also have a website. http://www.autoleads.co.uk/ were you can find out if its compatible and what lead you need. As far as i can remember with the jvc changers there is a seperate lead for power for a changer which you have to earth to the body of the car aswell have you got this

you can try disconnecting the battery for an hour or two (i usually suggest overnight if possible) sometimes the microprocessor controlling the changer developes a glitch and needs to be reset. the best way to reset it is to disconnect power to the changer.
