Question about Hitachi 60UX54B/55K 60" Rear Projection Television
I have a model 60UX54B/55K projection tv that is about nine years old. For the last few years the problem has occurred and has done so to the point of no return-----something has to be done. My tv started jarring from real heavy bass from my stereo and hard knocks on the floor close to my tv about four years ago. Once the disturbance was stopped, the tv would work great again. It got to the point that the picture eventually would roll and become distorted ---but not fuzzy----just acting like lenses were not lining up. Then I would hit the tv lightly (or stomp floor) and it would work just fine. Eventually this all just got worse and the tv began to go black and come back on, then roll, then work, and sometimes just turn off and I would have to unplug and then replug and it would work fine. Eventually this quit working also. Now it is really sensitive to vibrations and will turn off at any time just about. It keeps trying to come back on but it will eventually just not work and I have to unplug for a longer and longer time to get it to work correctly again--lately like a day or two.
Have hitachi 60ux54b model. the screen went out and came back on with lines across the screen. how would i fix it?

Basic solution = solder any / all bad connections.....requires
removal of chassis....and replacing the convergence IC's is considered good prevent maintenance ....usually 3-400.00....

Hi, That`s an easy one, you have a bunch of broken solder joints on the sweep board, if you are proficient at soldering you can fix this yourself, if you are NOT then call a tech out, this is a cheap, quick repair, get it done and start enjoying your set again, hope this helps, Happy Holidays.

have to access from the back, 9-12 screws, the boards have to be slid out so you can flip the whole thing over and get to the solder joints that are on the bottom of the board, look with a good magnifying glass, you`ll find them. If you remove any plugs (and you will)be sure to mark which way they come out and which socket they came from or you will have fireworks in December :) :) :) go for it if you know how to solder, good luck

Thank you very much. I will get it done. Happy Holidays!!!!! Just out of curiousity----where is the sweep board located? From front access of TV or rear access of TV? And should I be able to tell with my naked eye where the damage is located---or could some damage be unoticeable?
Thank you very much. Very helpful. Happy Holidays!!!
I have a similar problem... TV picture first started showing a shrinking screen (from top and bottom). A slight stomp next to or a tap on top the TV worked for a while but now the screen has horizontal scatchy lines across it that look like a old time time movie projector screen playing a worn out movie (except the lines are horizontal not vertical). The amount of shock required to clear up the screen has been increasing. Once the screen clears it will stay clear for the whole day, but when the powered down and resarted the next day, it all starts over again!
Help.
