Blank screen I have an akai pdp4298ed plasma tv , last night the screen went black, but i still have sound, the remote works for changing channels and volume, but no menu, no one seems to want to help me with a solution, is akai trying to forget about a problem they sold. my recommendation is dont buy any more akai or sam sung products, any solutions email me at [email protected]
Had the TV for about 3 years and couple days ago, when we were playing a DVD, suddenly the screen went blank but sound was still OK. Any idea how to fix it?Same as others.

Biggest pile of junk I have ever purchased. Tried to get warranty, they wanted me to box up unit and send to California, I live in Maryland. Now when I take the unit to a repair shop and I will pay .They tell me parts are no longer Available. GOOD JOB AKAIBiggest pile of junk I have ever purchased. This is weird. I also have a plasma 50" model PS5Q91HDX and on the 5/02/11 the screen went blank when my friends daughter was watching a Wiggles DVD. The image kept coming back, flashing a scene or two before going black again. But the sound is perfect.
I wonder what is going on? Is anyone else having trouble with their 3-4 year old Samsung 50" TVs???
It may only be a power distribution problem which comes from age and leaving it on 24/7. This should only be a $100.00 fix unless you have a friend in the field.
the photon charges at the back of the tv might be damaged, try to take it in to be repaired if not i suggest u buy a new one, please, please, please do not take it apart to fix it urself, alot of bad burns have happened to people who try to fix plasma tv's.
The high voltage power supply for the plasma display has failed. It may or may not be on a separate board that could be replaced the owner. If you find a separate board, it may have its own fuse which you could check for continuity with an ohmmeter.
The best way is to contact your service provider and ask them to trouble shoot guide you, there should be a way to reset or diagnose the receiver or if you prefer go back to the place you bought it and ask for a replacement, You should still have the manufacturer's warranty, check that as well.
