Dell e1505 shuts down all power sources when plugged in

Dell e1505 would not boot. when I plugged in a power source it shuts off the green lights.

  • kemraj_parsr Aug 14, 2009

Thanks for the response byte guy. I don't believe its a problem with the battery. I tried using other power adapters and the green light goes off when plugged into the pc. I believe its a shortage on the mother board.

This was another response i got.

HI, CHECK THE MEMORY CARD AND VIDEO CARD, FIRST UNPLUG THE PC REMOVE TWO SCREWS FROM THE RIGHT COVER SLIDE BACK THE COVER, YOU WILL SEE ON THE RIGHT UPPER SIDE OF THE MOTHER BOARD ONE OR TWO RECTANGLE LONG BOARD/CARD THAT IS MEMORY CARD, ON BOTH END IS A LOCKING TAB, BEFORE YOU TOUCH THE CARD ON LEFT HAND TOUCH THE MAIN FRAME OF THE PC THEN PUSH BACK THE LOCKING TABS TOWARD TO THE MAIN BOARD THE MEMORY BOARD/CARD WILL POP OUT. CLEAN THE CONTACTS OF THE MEMORY BOARD /CARD, REINSTALL IT BACK, IF THE PC DID NOT TURN ON .YOU NEED A POWER SUPPLY TO BE REPLACE.
MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE SAME POWER SUPPLY YOU HAVE ON PC. YOU CAN SEE THERE IS A LABEL ON THE POWER SUPPLY WHAT IS THE WATTAGE. HOPING THAT THIS MIGHT HELP YOU SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

Take out the battery and try it. Are you using the correct power supply?

Hi I repair 7 of those power supply and I can tell you exactly wrong cause this are always be drop lot of times and it will stop charging your battery and or will not give no power to your laptop. The problen is the motherboard is fried or shorted. In that power supply there is a little transformer that soldered are all broken off and not connecting anymore. just order or buy a new one your laptop is fine it will be working again.

When i turn on my Dell Inspiron 2400 Desktop Computer why won`t it start.

Is the computer plugged in to a known good power source with a known good power cord? Also, make sure the power is fully seated on both ends. When you press the power button are you getting any indicator lights? The power button itself has an LED that will be either solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber, or off. Do you hear any beeps?

I have a Dell XPS M1710. PC will not boot, no

On the mother board is an internal battery (round, silver type). Try replacing it and see if that fixes the issue.

Dell 1505 laptop..amber light flashes constantly, battery shows 100% but when I unplug AC...no power

Hi there!

The problem you're having there is a motherboard issue,
The computers power button is amber and it flashes that means the power inside the computer is not being distributed properly. You said that the battery is 100% charged but when you unplug the AC the computer will have no power, that means the motherboard is failing, its not identifying the battery as a source of power anymore,

You can try to use another ac adapter and check if the computer will boot up, or try to unplug and plug the memory and hard drive see if any changes will happen,
If the computer turns on with another ac adapter and boots up to windows properly then try to update the bios.
If the ac did not also the memory and hard drive,.
You'll really need to get a new motherboard.

Hope this helps!

My xps 420 pc desktop wont boot. Shut it down last

Try and reset your CMOS and see if it helps.

If you're not sure how, then unplug the power cable from your PC, then take off the side panel, on the motherboard is a set of 2 or 3 pins to Clear the CMOS (reset the BIOS) all boards are different, so there is no set location for the CMOS pins, if you're unsure, just remove the battery from the motherboard for about 30 seconds, then replace it ("+" facing up)

But you need to make sure your PS is not plugged into any external power source while you're doing this or you risk deleting your BIOS

Hope this helps in some way.

Dell laptop inspiron e1505 no boot green light comes on for about 5 seconds, plugged into a working monitor and still no screen, reset ram, and I dont hear any fans or hard drive running.

could be a case of overheating.
for starters clean the fans with a mild vaccum...
If this doesn't help, the laptop needs to be opened and cleaned up internally, also apply fresh heat release compund to the processor.
That will solve it.

LOOSE LEFT CTRL AND SHIFT KEYS

Generally, the keys on a portable keyboard are non-repairable. The keyboard is a Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) and if under warranty, Dell should send a replacement, If out of warranty, Ebay is a good source for a keyboard and they generally run about $20

Dell Inspiron E1505 Notebook will not power up..

Try taking out battery and plug in power. If it works, battery is faulty.
If not, try taking out your hard disk plug in power, if it works, hard disk is faulty.Try taking out memory card, if there's a sound, memory card faulty. If no sound, it's your motherboard that is causing the error.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

Blank screen when powered on.

Do you have any CD’s that came with your laptop? If so, look for one that has “Diagnostics and utilities” listed under the “Contents”. To boot from that CD disk, power on your laptop and tap the <F12> key to bring you to the “One time boot menu”. Insert the CD and then select CD/DVD drive and hit <Enter> key. You can also boot from the Windows reinstallation disk. If the computer boots from either CD, then your Operating System is corrupted and needs to be reloaded.
