I am attempting to update my dvd-rw 111d drivers, and I get error code 39, which says target not found. my drive is inop at this time. How do I fix this problem ?

Hello there jeverts.

Here's your geek-steer ...

You're classically describing a very common trouble. In fact, common enough that Microsoft has published a KnowledgeBase (KB314060) article concerning it. Accomplishing the actions detailed there should "FixYa" up.

Good luck, and please do post back ...
  • to let me (and interested others with similar trouble) know how things worked out,
  • to provide clarification or feedback,
  • if you have ANY further questions.

Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111d instruction manual

The manual likely is at the Pioneer website. But why do you need it? These drives stick in your computer pretty easily, and only function if you have a good DVD burning program installed. Did it come with an installation CD? Your burning program may be on that. If you run into trouble, just call Pioneer--they owe it to you.

Audio problem by DVD Play

You need to check to see if the dvd drive is set to digital playback because
it is probably trying to find your on board AC97 - 5.1 digital output. With
a music CD it doesn't have to be connected digitially because it uses analog
for stereo playback but most DVD's - if a movie - are set to playback in
digital. Open 'My Computer', right click on your DVD drive, select
properties, select hardware, highlight your DVD drive, click on properties,
then properties again, check- Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM
device.

hmmm, this is unusual, it appears to be an incompatibility with the DVD software, as everything else seems to work may I suggest that you upgrade your DVD software for a later version.
