Cannot connect when hardwired thru router

Those instructions would be correct if I could connect to the internet when hard wired thru the router.... How am to access something thats online when I cannot get online? Sure I can go straight thru the modem but then how am I to access something (router) when I'm not plugged in thru it....

Try check to see if you have the correct RJ45 cable. You may have a crossover cable instead of a straight through cable. then check ipconfig / all to see if you have your media connected. this is done by going to the command line in Windows and typing in >ipconfig (space) /all. if connected then ping Yahoo or some other site to see if you have a response.

HI! I bliv u are having some issue setting up ur router.. I will be more than glad to assist u. Dont use the setup cd, sometimes it works, sometimes its not. here are the steps u need to do:
1. press the reset button on the back of the router for 15sec.. after that unplug the router for 15secs then plug it back in..
2. connect the ethernet cable to port1 of the router and the other end to the lan port of your computer..
3. pull up ur browser then type at the url:192.168.1.1. it will ask u the username and password, by default the username is admin and the password, just leave it blank
4. it will show the setup page of the router. u can set the router on the specific internet setup that u have.
a. if ur isp is a cable company, normaly u need to do a mac clone on the router setup page by cloning the computer that is reg to the cable company, how to determine it. ex. the computer that is reg to the cable company is a desktop or laptop, if this computer is connected to the modem directly and u can access internet.
b. once u determined it u need to connect this computer directly to the router and do a mac clone and set ur internet settings to auto-dhcp..then save the settings and after that, unplug to the power of the modem and router, plug in 1st the power of the modem then once all lights lit, plug in the router, then once all lights lit, try to pull up a browser that ur computer is connected directly to the router.. ur cable connection shud be, cable from the modem will go to the WAN port of the router and connect ethernet cable on port1 going to the lan port of the computer..once u can access the internet, u can now access again the setup page of the router by typing at the url:192.168.1.1 and u can setup the wireless settings, u need to create a ssid or wireless name and a security..
5. If ur isp is a dsl normaly they give u a username and password to connect to the internet, ur settings on the router should be PPPoe
6. If ur isp gives u a static ip address settings, u need to set the router to isp setup.
a. how to check the isp of the isp given to u..
1. click on start
2. run
3. type cmd
4. it will show a dos prompt
5. from the dos prompt type ipconfig/all
6. it will list the ip address, subnet, default gateway, dns server
this settings should be type in to the settings on the router for static ip addressing..

if you have any querry pls feel free to get in touch.. good luck

Connect two computers to internet thru AT&T DSL

You can install a either a 4 jack wireless router( cost about $25). This will allow you to either cable 4 PC's or connect your PC's via the wireless feature. The instructions that come with the wireless router will give you installation instructions (it's fairlly easy). Make sure you secure your network with at least WEP security.

I cant connect internet through hardwire(ethernet) but i can connect to internet by wireless... and it keeps on telling me Unidentified network.

Not really ...

1 thing that should not be in common between your wireless and modem is GATEWAY...

Your default modem gateway will be 192.168.1.1

change your router gateway to 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.3.1

to do this ...
1. click on start menu , type cmd , enter
2. COMMAND PROMPT dialogue box opens .
3. type . IPCONFIG
3. note your Default gateway.
4. open internet explorer
5. type your default gateway in browser address
6. it will prompt you to give user ID and password .
7 Your USER ID and password is ADMIN .
8. your router setup page opens .
9 change your local IP address to 192.168.3.1 .
10. Check mark on BRIDGING MODE .
11. Disable and enable your ethernet .
12 . now try connecting to INTERNET .

It should work . .

Can I piggyback a wireless router onto a hard-wired router?

Yes, you can connect the DI-624 to your exitsing EBR-2310, you just need to connect the a cable from port 4 of the EBR-2310 to the internet/wan port of the DI-624, then after that you can already use now the wireless to your laptop and also the wired router to your desktops.
But I may suggest you to just replace the EBR-2310 with the DI-624 so you will only be using 1 router that can cater your laptop and also your desktop, Just connect the cable from your modem that is conencted now to your EBR-2310 to the internet/wan port of the DI-624 then run the setup CD that should be it.

Hope that helps...........
