Similar problem. We just went to HD convertor, and found that there is random association with timmyho's problem, however, it also will not turn off at all, or comes on in the middle of the night without anyone around.

Do you have a cable box which turns on and off with the tv? If so is your cable box input on the video 4 mode? If that is the case look under the video menu for advanced selections, you will see a selection for auto/on/off for video 4, select off. Check manul under video and it will explain also.

TV will not turn on. Lights Blink and hear noise

Have you replaced the lamp ? Make sure the door cover is closed good because there is a switch that is made when the door cover is put back on. Also you could have a bad ballast board or bad power unit board. Just a thought...... Hope this is helpful.

IT sounds like you need to call a Factory Authorized Service Center for HIT, to come out to your home and give a written estimate B4 repairs begin. Normal cost is about $550.00.

Red on/off indicator light never turns off

I had that same problem intermittently for about six months. Now I have no picture, just three small vertical lines in the center of the screen. One red, one green and one blue. Can anyone help? I know its outdated but I'd hate to throw the set in the dumpster if it just needs a little mainentance.

Power light will not shut off.

Sounds like the main relay is stuck, if you know about tvs and what a relay looks like, you can take the back of and tap it with a screwdriver and it will clear up for a while but return, you will need to replac the relay. If not knowledgable call a technician for a repair.

Chirping noise and flashing front power light.

Theres a short somewhere in the set. Most likly the HOT is shorted or the vertical IC has caused this in the past. In one case I had shorted convergence IC cause this symptom.. This set is solid state and there are no user serviceable parts inside so please call a trained tech to assist you with this problem Good Luck
