Ice-maker thawing-refreezing into block of ice

You need a new Ice Maker. Very often body of ice maker starts to leak.

i don't know how old your fridge is but on older ge's if the evap fan motor was bad they wanted you to also change out the motor board.first thing unplug it,look at the board the newest boards have 7 relays on them,if yours doesn't i would change the board out,this is what powers everything in this machine,compressor,fans everything,so if i had this issue i would change out the board or it sounds like you could have a bad compressor but that would be new fridge time, part wr55x10942 now the newest board is wr55x10942p i haven't seen one of those yet but i looked up a fridge yesterday and saw that so they made more changes to this board.good luck

You can do that, but if it does it again you will need to order a new inlet valve. This where your water line is connected in the back. Rate me if I helped.

In most cases it is the water valve that feeds water to the ice maker well. The valve is energized by the ice maker to fill for 7 seconds and then shut off promptly.
The valve will many times dribble water into the well after shut off, causing an overflow problem.
The fix is a new water valve kit.
The only other possibility is the freezer temperature going above freezing from time to time, but is a rare problem.

No, Sub Zero does not have an icemaker switch to turn it off and on. How old is your unit? Icemakers can last for 3 years and sometimes they can go out after 18 months.

remove cube tray from ice maker. clean with limeaway adn rinse. Spray with a light coating of PAM cooking spray. wipe dry and reinstall. be careful not to damage the sensor ( in center of tray)

This issue occurs if your Ice Maker is not clean or have dust particals inside, follow the below steps in order to clean it properly:

Step 1 Lift the power bar located above the ice maker storage tray.

Step 2 Unplug the refrigerator.

Step 3 Allow the refrigerator and freezer to defrost. This will melt any large blocks of ice that have accumulated in the ice maker.
Clean the Ice Machine

Step 1 Remove the ice machine storage tray.

Step 2 Dump any water in the ice machine storage tray.

Step 3 Wash the ice machine storage tray using warm, soapy water. Rinse and allow to dry completely.

Step 4 Sanitize the lines of the ice maker. Consult your manufacturer's directions for steps to do this, because it's not available on all models.
Reassemble the Ice Maker

Step 1 Replace the ice machine storage tray.

Step 2 Plug the refrigerator into the outlet to restore power.

Step 3 Lower the internal power bar located just above the ice machine storage tray. This allows the ice machine to make new ice.

Try this! Clean water tube, Check Ice sensor ( small wire (red tip) set to close to ice plate ) To close ,no build up sets off to soon.

Ice maker was intermittent at best - ice was often just a shell. After two failures to correct we had the ice maker (a Whirlpool - on a Sub Zero - Go figure) replaced. Then the paddle that detects the ice level broke. Next step a new GE.

Check water turned on. check ice button switch turned on in fridge. remove juice storage, ice container in freezer, check ice bucket full white plastic flapper to make sure not stuck on a white peg at top. flapper must hang down and be freely movable to signal ice maker to keep busy. If up high will turn off ice maker. Lots of other parts especially heater circuits involved also: fill tube supply heater not working then frozen supply line then no ice.
