Fault with the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. You may have a cold solder joint around the Vertical circuit. Resolder the pins of the LA7833 IC and the components around the IC. Check the C308 220uf/35V & C320 100uf/50V. Nous Sabre. www.aaatvservice.com
It sounds like the picture tube may be weak (because it's orange) but it going to half ascreen is not caused by the picture tube but likely a vertical circuit problem. If this problem happened suddenly (going orange) then the picture tube is probably good and at least worth bringing in for an estimate.
Most problems indicated by your description involved the Vertical IC. With your post "tap...pop back up" signifies a loose connection or to be more specific a cold solder. I suspect that no part(s) need top be replaced but would however require re-application of heat with the use of a soldering iron.
