My microwave stays on after closing the door. The keypad is blank and doesn't work. Is there a way to reset this or is the keypad bad? It is 5 years old.
Sounds like 2 different problems, but it may talke a few posts to narrow it down.
A blank display could mean that you need to set the clock. If you can't, it may be a bad keypad, a problem on the control board, or a bad door switch or door switch mount.
If it stays on after closing the door, it may be a bad door switch or a stuck relay or other problem on the control board.
