My tv will also not turn on. It makes a sound like it wants to come on, then a wavey line crosses the screen and the timer light comes on and flickers but that's it. Please email me at newlove@shaw .ca.

My set is two days shy of 4 years old. It turned on for 5 seconds one morning and then went black with no sound. I thought the problem was my dish receiver, after calling technical support for DISH was advised that the TV set was the problem. Nothing in owner's manual gives trouble-shooting advice for this problem. I have disconnected from power source for 24 hours but problem continues--black screen, no sound, power light stays on.My set is two days shy of 4 years old. It is possible that it is due to the power supply since you said "I can turn the TV off with the remote, but can't turn it on again unless toggle the power switch off (and then on) the set itself and only then can I use the remote to turn the TV on"
The power supply could be failing which could cause that symptom. Otherwise if it was not the Power supply it would likely be the main video board that is failing. In any case I would probably take a look at the power supply first as it seems to be a common fail point of the Akai LCT2715.
If it is the power supply you can have it replaced by a TV repair service. They usually do not bother repairing them which ends up 1) costing you more 2) being unnecessary. I offer to repair these Power Supplies if they are indeed faulty. I charge $100 + Return Shipping for the repair.

if this doesnt work try addressing your old remote to the receiver by pressing record from system info screen
my AKAI tv is locked. All i see is a blus screen with a little red lock on the bottom left corner! the only button that works on the tv OR remote is the power button on the remote. PLEASE HELP i have tried pushing every button but nothing happens
Hello drifter,The design of the tv enables the auto search to detect any input signal you have selected. It could be TV (off air, video signals etc) so just switch on whatever inputs to the akai plasma befote you switch the Akai plasma on and let it do the work for you. just relax and watch the tv.

1. switch on the input eg video deck, DVD, VCD, or satellite dish.
2. switch on your AKAI PLASMA and
3. wait for the akai to search for your input signals. TRy this simple procedure and if it doesnt work just post back the message.
