Not that I can think of... Sounds like the volume down button is either stuck or broken. Push down on the volume down button, does it "click". If not, it might be stuck, try getting a razor blade and pull up on the volume button GENTLY. If you pull it up and still no click when pushing down, than the button is broken in my opinion.
Okay on the outside edge of your phone, there should be 1 or 2 buttons that that go up and down, you want to keep pushing the up button, which will*usually* cycle through the different volume settings for your ringer. silent is the last one on the list so just push up til you get to a volume you like...
The volume buttons on the side of the phone are sticking. My up volume button seemed fine, but someone told me to keep pushing it and the button will release. Sure enough, the volume controls started to work. I played with both the up and down buttons some more and the button below started working. A few more minutes monkeying around with the volume buttons and now all the buttons work.
this means that one of your volume up or down buttons are stuck or that they might be water damaged. Try to click on the one that you think is pushing by itself. Do you feel it clicking in?? If not that means its stuck in. If it clicks that mostly means that it has water damage. You need to open the top portion of the phone to inspect and clean the damaged button
On the left side of the phone are two button: A rocker button and a push button. With the flip CLOSED, push the rocker button down. you will see Style:Silent. Push the other button until Style:Loud comes up. Push the rocker button down again to exit the function. Open the Flip and use the rocker button to set the Ringer volume. You can set the ringer volume however you want for each style. My phone swiches by itself constantly when I put it in my jeans pocket, very annoying.
Sounds like the system switch is broken. They use a piece of spring steel thats bent up to provide a snapping action (its very small). After years of continuous pressing the metal fatigue fails and breaks so there is nothing to keep the contacts apart. The most common button you will see this is in the volume up because its used the most. It seems that people usually adjust their volume up in more steps than lowering the volume as their ears adjust to the levels plus people tend to push the volume up button harder than the volume down..
There are a couple things you can do when this switch goes bad. There is probably a button on there that you dont ever use or could live without (loudness perhaps). You can take the good switch off that button and replace the volume button with it.
You can do this by either desoldering them or by popping the clip off the switch and replacing guts. I have found it much easier to desolder them however because the small pieces are difficult to manipulate.
If you dont want to lose the function of another button, you can try matching the switch with one from an electronics supply place like digikey, or go to a repair shop and ask them to replace the button or sell you a good button out of a broken face.
