yeah thanks bmw rider but it's still not solving my problem.. the green is the color with the curves.. one big curve in the middle and at each top corner.. i can cover the green lamp up and everything is exactly where it needs to be.. if i converge the red and blue to match the green i can get all the colors lined up but the picture is still warped .... in the multi-point convergence screen the green crosshairs are warped pretty badly in the parts of the screen where i'm having the problems...there has to be someway to fix the green isn't there?

Same exact problem as reported except with a 60 inch and there is no way to eliminate the curve right now from the green. I just turned it on one day and whala it is out of balance.

Jaymz, you can`t move the green, the green tube is always mounted in the middle and is not adjustable from the convergence menu. red & blue should be converged one at a time on top of the green, once you have accomplished this the crosshatch grid will be white and that means your done :)

Red, green, and blue lines at bottom of screen, mirror looking effect, also looks like 3D. Got at a garage sale so no manual.

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

Picture has shadows with different colors (red, yellow, green)

Sounds like the convergence needs adjustment. You can do this through the menu-follow the on screen instructions. The idea is to line up the red, green, & blue.

Convergence is off - Blue and Red are fine Green will not line up

On most units, the Green is constant and the Red and Blue are adjustable. Here are 2 links on how to manually adjust the convergence. There is a menu option using the remote control. Once there, you will find step by step procedure on how to adjust the convergence. Hope this helps answer your question. All the best!

Red will not converge even after I replaced both IC's. Please Help ASAP!

I have a phillips in my office like this. There are a few things to check. Check the resistors around the red convergence ics it is probably open resistor or resistor fuse take your time and check all the resistors. In rear cases it could be the surface mount ics on bottom of convergence board i hope that is not the case.

My phillips model 60pp920217f has a horrible picture...no green to the color

The green CRT coolant has congealed thats whats giving you the green halos. Change the coolant in the green and blue and your set will be fine. red is never affected so the red coolant should be fine.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

43H70 Blue Convergence out of line and will not line back up

If the blue colors will not line up, and the blue appears to sag inward from one or more sides, then you can bet that one of your convergence IC's has either cracked loose or burned out. The IC should be resoldered or replaced and the convergence realigned by someone experienced with projection TV convergence circuits.
