Thanks for your response Ron.
I just tried pressing down hard while trying to boot--nothing happened.
I tried this first as the the computer only has the original/internal memory-which requires taking the whole machine apart. I'll try that in a little bit--in the hopes that if you happen to get this message soon you could please let me know if I should still take the machine apart given the fact that I only have the internal memory module.
Best,
Clay
Well, Clay, sounds like you are in a bit of a fix! Let's see what we can do about it, OK?
To start with, I have a couple of things for you to do so that we can get a little better handle on just what's happening.
First, let's remove the battery, all of the memory and the hard drive. Then replace one of the memory modules and see if it doesn't try to come up. Whether or not it tries to come up, go ahead and replace the hard drive and the other memory module and try to bring it up again.
This exercise may be all that is needed to get it fixed. If not, then continue on.
Secondly, I need you to try to power it on while you press down firmly (really press down) in the area just towards the front of the space bar and just to the left of the touch pad assembly. Hold it down while it tries to go through the entire power up sequence.
Then let me know what happened.
