Could you please describe Error Code 71 on our Ricoh FT2260 copier, along with the most likely fix? Thanks.
There are basically two types of error codes:
These type of errors are often caused by the following conditions:
The VirtualReScan error codes displayed below are accompanied by descriptions and troubleshooting suggestions.

So there maybe a loose belt in there or a worn-out gear especially that you mentioned that it is almost at its final stage, where the hottest part is located.
Hoping that you tried re-inserting the connection of that solenoid. A mechanical switch must be located for the paper to activate that solenoid and maybe it's not working well... Worst case is, in the circuitry to activate that solenoid is already busted. Try to locate relays that triggers the switch

The code description does NOT pertain to the RICOH FT2260 copier. In layman's english, the paper is transported from the paper tray, passes under and through the toner assembly and stops against the paper pick-up roller before entering under the master unit of the machine. The pick-up roller is not turning to permit the paper to be transported through the remainder of its travel. That is what the Code 71 seems to be about. Thanks.
Don
There is no loose belt or worn gears. It seems that the gear assembly that is supposed to turn the "now still" paper transport roller is to be activated electrically by a solenoid. This isn't happening. Please try to get specific information that pertains to our machine. There is no apparent visible damage to any part of the paper transport system.
