My H700 works great when there is a quite background, as did the Samsung device it replaces. When there is any background noise, my voice is amplified and gets very distorted to the point where the person I am talking to can not understand me. Anybody know if this is normal or do I have a defective unit?
Try lowering the volume on the headset while using phone in quiet areas to avoid feedback.

Same problem here
Persons I am speaking with report distortions and echoing on the other end when I use the H700
I ended up returning it. I believe the problem was actually with the BB 8830 which seems to have a very high level of automatic gain control even on its own mike. The phone will pickup a bird chirping at 500 ft. My guess is that the noise cancelling on the headset makes the automatic gain control on the BB go to maximum microphone volume which causes the distortion. Until the BB offers a setting to control this automatic gain, I doubt I could use any noise cancelling device. I am not sure this is even firmware controled so it may be something I will have to live with as long as I am using the phone. I just updated the firmware with a new release but don't see mike sensitivity in the available settings yet.
