Mitsubishi vs-5041 picture intermittently goes off

My big screen's picture will be normal, then some lines will appear horizontal in random sequence for a second or so then picture goes off on all inputs. It may reappear for minutes, hours,???. The dvd input will light up blue. the picture may work for hours or days, but becoming worse at going off. I have a masters electrician license, but I am not a tv repairman. Can anyone help?

I don't know where the convergance ic is located. I have had the front and back off. Cleaned and checked connections. If you bump the front panel at the display light (next to the power button the picture will come back momentarily. I have checked all the connections to front panel. The problem has gotten worse. Picture will come on every time you turn the tv on then go to horizontal lines running in all kinds of directions then go dark.

Yes, I've soldered many times. I'll look at it again and try and locate the convergence ICs. Do you know how many there are?... just one? I'll check all boards for bad solder joints. Thanks for your help!

My guess is convergance ic but to troubleshoot it the best soultion might be to get a can of freeze and spay it on the IC while the problem is happening and or tap the board/ic's to see if you have a loose connection,

sounds like you have a loose connection then, are you any good with soldering? or know anyone that is?
the convergence ic's have a stk392??? on them, best thing to do is keep the unit off til it's fixed
check the underside of the board and check for bad solder joints or discolored solder, i would touch up all of the connections on the convergence ic for sure

if you dont know how do it you can send it to www.ptscorp.com
becarefull theres high voltage in that there box.

Mitsubishi #VS-45605

We had a blue cone on the screen. We have adjusted the sharpness, contrast, and cross hairs. The cone has almost completely disappeared, but we still have blue shadows. Could this mean a blown color tube?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Mitusbushi VS-4544 Horizontal lines then looses picture.

I'll take a guess here that the lines are at a slight angle. I believe that these are "retrace" lines and are an indication that the flyback transformer is starting to fail. The vertical IC would cause a collapse of the picture and bad caps in the circuit would effect the linearity of the picture. You can check for poor solder joints as they could cause any nunber of symptoms.

Keep us posted.

Mitsubishi VS-45607 45" Big Screen

Good Day, Delano1981;

It may cure the problem but I would suspect the 9 Volt source
CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND
IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH
ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.

This should resolve your TV"s condition.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

Mitsubishi VS-45607 picture goes out intermittently

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. MAY BE INTERMITTENT, SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB.
