Xbox 360 it wont read any disk e.g. 360 games, dvd's, cd's it just says unplayable disk and it doesnt make a sound like it usually does when it reads a disk it does a really quiet buzz for about 3 secs then says unplayable disk what should i do

Its the Disk Drive, its not able to read it because something got in there and scratched the reader, or its just old and broke. but a new disk drive will fix the problem.

Sounds like you need to have someone do a Pot calibration on the lens and strengthen the lens to be able to read better.

Sounds like the laser is starting to go bad in your dvd drive if it has to read it a few times before it might see the discs.

The laser is inside of the dvd drive and it looks like this:

Depending on the manufacturer of the drive will depend on the laser you will need to get.

You could also take a can of air in the meantime and blow some into the drive to make sure that there is no dust or dirt on the laser as this could cause that message as well.

this is a possible laser read problem.
Try an official DVD Movie. And also a music CD.
if it reads nothing at all, i,d suggest a laser head cleaner.
Or a replacement DVD Drive.

this is the laser unit that is faulty, it either needs replacing or you could try cleaning it with a cotton earbud to see if that helps. if its still doing the same after cleaning you could also try adjusting the laser power, sometimes after its been played for years the laser loses power and you will have faults such as this. adjusting the 'pots' on the laser itself to around 282 will help greatly.

It sounds like your drive has died. You will need to purchase a replacement from Microsoft or a licensed dealer. You can't replace with a generic drive as the Xbox uses proprietary firmware on them.

Sounds obviouse but have u tried just running a laser cleaning disk? always start simple :)

your cd unit is gone, there is no way you can fix it without opening the console.

hi there, what you can do is maually clean the lens , free it frm dust and residue. be sure to clean it thoroughly so that it will not be damaged and wont read anymore cds.
