ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.
1.) To get back some or all of your pictures, you may be able to use an image recovery program on your PC, like those freeware ones listed here:- http://www.dirfile.com/freeware/photo-recovery.htm.
2.) If you cannot get back the images from your memory card then format it on your camera, or by right clicking its icon in My Computer to bring down the formatting options. Then format it again in your camera.
It's no problem at all to get them back. Do not take any more pictures, and remove the card from the camera to lessen the chance of you overwriting some important pictures or videos. There are very many freeware software options available to help you recover your files. Please see this blog article that reviews several of the better freeware recovery programs that you can download (and yes, these truly are freeware). You may need to use a card reader with these programs though.
Looks like maybe too many programs working in the background causing limited memory for the computer. Install CCleaner (freeware), go to startup and disable some non essential programs.
