How to record audio using microphone input
What is the Make / Model of your Laptop? Depending on this, there may be an internal Microphone built into your computer you could use. If not, I can also show you how to specify windows use the "Microphone" as the input device.
Typically Laptops have 2 input selections "Line Input" and "Mic"
Line input is for use when you want to say.. Hook your ipod up to your laptop.
Microphone is a little different, as the input looks like the same as the other Line Input place, however the Microphone port provides power to whatever is plugged into it, which will cause problems if you plug anything other then a microphone into it.
And vice versa, if you plug a microphone into the "Line In" port, the microphone will not work, because the "Line In" port does not send out power to the microphone. Inside Windows Audio if you click 'Options' then properties, click on the recording tab, after this, make sure all the available check boxes ARE checked. Click OK. Then Find the MicroPhone Slider bar, Make sure it is towards the top, and also the checkbox marked "select" is checked. Then go back to Options - Properties - Click Playback, and ok.
Any other information you could provide will make for a better solution I will follow up on.
I also have a Logitech headset that i bought a couple of month ago, but mine does use the USB port. It worked fine til all of a sudden a week ago it stopped working. I have another cheaper mic also, so when the logitech faild i tried it and it too wont work. I can hear for the speakers fine, its just the mic. I tried to change the settings in control panel as well as in game, but stil havent had any luck. What else can i do?
