I have a 5 year old rear projection Hitachi and recently I have noticed a green area that appears in the middle of the lower part of the screen. It is not always there, but it comes and goes more often. Any suggestions?

Re: Green Area in Lower part of screen
Some Hitachis have developed bad connections on the convergence output IC's (locations IK04 and IK05) You could try and resolder the IC's but if you are in it that far you are best to replace both. The generic part number is STK392-110

I do not think the Dog broke anything. I do think though the Optical Block assembly needs to be replaced to fix the problem. Do to the cost of repair, I would contact Hitachi to see if they could assist you in the cost and recommending a Service Facility near you to do the work.
I hope this helps,

daveT29 - I had my brightness cranked, too. The picture went dark and off-color after moving the TV from one corner of the living room to another.
After waiting for the TV repairman for about 4 weeks, I "fixed" it myself. Take the front panel off (4 screws, then a black panel) and blow out all the dust. I was afraid to use a swiffer duster because of the static electricity, so i just used with my mouth blowing powers.
