Need help! I have had this computer system now for three years and just started having a problem. My monitor turns black and will not come back on. Before all I would do is move the mouse and my desktop would reappear now nothing. I turn the monitor off and on, even turn the computer off and on and nothing happens. I have to turn the whole system off and wait approximately 20min before turning it back on. I confirmed that it was not going into sleep mode. I even made my screen saver go on after one minute and it is still happening. Can anyone help.

The problem seems to be with the monitor. When there is no Display,if you power-off and on again do you get a Benq Startup screen? If not the problem should be dry solder on the Invertor board.Try tapping screen lightly,if it comes on the problem is dry solder on Invertor board.

Try to re-solder the inverter part of the board. You may recognize that part where the 4 connectors from the backlight tubes can be found.... usually the small transformators (sorry, my technical English is not good) have bad soldering eyes after longer use. This may work if backlight turns on for a few seconds, then the power led is still alight but screen goes dark.... the inverter then "thinks" one of the tubes might be defective and turns power off. Hope this helps a little...
ive solved this by taking out my vga cable and plug in my dvi cable and ive done some settings on my ati control center i have x1300 512 mb all you need is change your settings that this lcd dont support plus this monitor is huge!!!!!!!!! thank you for your support lol
I also had an issue with a Benq FP731 monitor. They have a 3yr warranty so my suggestion is to send it back. You have a IC on the inside that is getting ready to go out. You have to call them and get an RMA and pay for shipping out to them, but they ship back on their dime.
Do you have your screen saver enabled, i so turn it off and se if it still does it.
Secondly boot your pc in safe mode(pressing F8) on boot up and select start windows in safe mode.
See if the monitor still does it, if so a monitor fault or loose/faulty vga lead.
If it is ok then your graphics driver may be corrupt and need re installing.
