I had a tech come out and he said he had never seen my problem before and attempted several times to get the dvr box and my t.v. to "work together" but it didn't happen. I fixed the problem myself and bought a new t.v.
I too have had the same problem. Took the cable box into TW and they gave me a new box. But when I was there there were 3 other guys getting new cable boxes too. New cable box and I still have the same problem. My cable box keeps rebooting about every 4 hours. Called the 800 # and they had no idea. Said I could take it into the office and get a new cable box or have a tech come out with a new box.

Hi Jerry, This is from the link below......... The Time Warner Cable CLIKR-5 is designed to offer complete control for all digital, HD and DVR set-top boxes. The UR5U-8780L is factory programmed to operate Scientific Atlanta/Cisco and Samsung set-top boxes while the UR5U-8790L is factory programmed for Motorola set-top boxes. Time Warner Cable CLIKR 5 Universal Remote Control
Use the Time Warner remote and hit the settings button twice. Scroll down to "audio: digital out" and select HDMI. That solved it for me.
The only issue I have now is that I also have component sound outputs going from the cable box to a receiver. When I turn off the TV while the HDMI cable is hooked up to both the box and the tv the sound goes out to the receiver...
i bot a new tv i don't have the book for the time warner remote so i don't know how to program it to work the tv it only works cable box where can i find how to program remote that comes with time warner cable
I have the 55 inch. try using 246. That works on mine. if not try 028,164,208,066 let me know if that works for ya ric another note, are you using the flash on the back of your cable box or do you have a sensor in front of the DVR box?
I know it's been a while since you posted this, but perhaps this can help someone else. Check your cable box. I have Time Warner Cable with an HD-DVR. There is an option in the audio setup menu that will switch the audio from composite/digital to HDMI. I found this as I tested composite cables to fix a video issue with my TV, but lost audio when I switched back. Merely a setting issue. Hope this helps.
