My wind tunnel vacuum does not go on any more. I took off the handle and saw a red on/off button. Nothing happens when I push that, so I am assuming it is not the actual switch, but a deeper problem. Can you help me. Thank you. Judy

Re: Doesn't go on
It could be the switch they do fail. i would test the power do you or someone you know how to use a multimeter if so test the wires for power in the on and off position if it has power to both sides of the switch than it is for sure good if not its bad, if its good test and see if you have power to the motor if it does then the motor is bad if not test power to all items along the wire until you find the place where the power stops and that will be your bad part.

Some Wind Tunnels by Hoover have a poor design in the switch on the handle. Sometimes the switch does not turn on all the way and will stop running. Other times you can't turn the unit off.
First I would be sure the handle was properly installed. Remove the two screws holding the upper handle in place and tap it bacwards to remove it. Set the switch inside to the OFF position. Next set both buttons on the handle to the OFF position and re-install the upper handle. If the switch still does not turn the vacuum on and off, the switch will need replacement.
On the windtunnel the switch is not in the handle. It is located in the top of the body housing underneath where the handle meets the body. The slide lever you are pushing on to make the machine run is just a push rod.
Hello my good friend, this cleaner doesn't have a reset button or anything, it resets by itself after cooling down, it takes about 30 minutes to cools down.
Possible that the switch is bad, part #40309033, take the handle off, then the tool compartment, then you can get to the switch, almost bet that one of the contacts is bad.
