New dail up modem reports "no dail tone" message, line is good.Need to us just for faxes as have broadband for rest! Have tried before and after filter, assume it should be after ,dosnt make any difference it seems!
Some dial connections dont like the filters attached. does the new modem have more then one ethernet connection on it? have u tried it on another connection if u have on in the house? it may just be your settings in the computer. are you using the same computer for both broadband and dial up? if you are then you may need to adjust the settings in your computer, your isp should have done all that for you.
your sharing a dial up line and a fax line? is that how im reading it? am i correct in saying that this is all it is?your sharing a dial up line and a fax line? is that how im reading it? am i correct in saying that this is all it is?

Unplug the phone line from the fax machine. Wait at least 1 minute then call the phone number that goes to the fax machine from another line such as a cell phone. Make sure you get a ring and not a busy signal. If you get a ring then hang up the phone. Plug in the fax machine again and call the fax number again. If you get a busy signal then either your phone if off the hook, the switch that is actuated when the phone is placed in the cradle is bad or your modem in the fax machine itself has gone bad. Another thing to try is unplug the fax machines power cord for 30 seconds then plug it back in. I have seen the modems get "locked up" and keep the phone line open. Unplugging will sometimes reset this and get it working again.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.
Try sending a test sheet using "hook" to a known good fax if it goes the fax is fine (it wont leave the doc feed till its coming out on the rx. fax.) If this works then maybe the speaker is bad or disconnected. As for the report you need to chance the transmission report to off or error.
-Carl, please let me know if this helps.
NG or poor line condition on the transmission report means that there is interference on the phone line.you need to double check the quality of the dial tone-if it static or clear.now, other interferences could be caused by other devices on the same line as your fax such as DSL modems.make sure first that you connect the brother machine directly to the walljack and try resending a fax.modem settings can be changed.e-mail me if you need that info
Sending faxes and revieng faxeng through a pbx you need te configure the pbx and youre fax too.( Dail a 0 before youre messages! ) You have to connect always on the pstn line on the 210sf even if you use a pbx.
The Ricoh spc210sf isn't supporting an pbx on isdn line!! Watch out for this because the isdn line is working on 24Volts!! Then you can blow youre fax modem of the spc210sf .
