I dropped and kicked my G4. Screen displays nothing, gets lighter

I dropped and kicked my G4(accidentally)The screen will illuminate one shade brighter once powered on, but stays in that display mode. Can't view anything at all, it just becomes gray from black. If anything, I would like to retrieve the contents of the hard drive. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

DON'T GIVE UP!!

OK, buddy this sounds bad but it may just be a short in the screen.

Plug in a monitor into the port on the back of the computer, Windows should automatically recognize it (plug and play).

If it works, let me know, if not then we need to explore deeper into the guts of the computer. But, before taking it apart, see if this works. You may e-mail me feed back at [email protected]

Let me know,

Sounds like the computer may be a lost cause ( not worth the price to fix ).

The easiest way to save your data is order a 2.5 inch external USB / IDE drive enclosure off of ebay and installing the drive from your laptop in that.

Getting to the hard drive is the hardest part, watch this video:

Lcd monitor does not display

Does the camera appear to power on aside from looking at the screen? If so, do you see any kind of change in the screen when powering on or off? If it seems like it might get a shade or two lighter, the screen may have died. If it has, your cheapest and easiest option would be replace the entire camera

I accidentally dropped it and after that the screen it seems to be lighter than before.

You coud try resetting the screen connector on the motherboard ..if it behaves the same you should replace the screen.

Accidentally my netbook fell down, now the display screen is not working

You get nothing? Black? You didn't post the Make, Model of Laptop or the OS. Is the monitor broken? So here's a general idea. There is a ribbon cable that connects the monitor to the motherboard, it's on the back of the monitor. Google your Make, Model of laptop for a video on screen replacement. Check ALL graphics cables. How does it shut off the monitor when you open and close the lid? Some laptops have a tiny switch near the hinges. When the hinge is damaged, out of line, etc., it will not function properly. That's a good place to start. Take a look at this video tips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Yi6GNFcP3w

My Mac G4 Tower, 10.3.9, suddenly lost all color. The display is black/white, shades of grey. When I start to boot up the screen starts blue but then goes to grey. This happened 2 days ago after a nearby...

The wether does have something to do with it. After a lightning storm humidity is a problem. the humidity and heat can make the screen lighter, kind of grey. After the wether clears up it will take an hour to regain full color. Also it could be if it was charging while the storm happened it could have blown a fuse and messed up you screen colors

Insignia tv will not powerup

Nothing at all? Does the screen seem to go from dark black to a lighter shade of black?

If the screen appears to stay on the darker shade of black then it is broken, and needs to be sent for repair. ( ie the screen isnt powering on when the tv is and there is nothing you can do without opening it.

You might try unplugging all cables and leaving it off with no power for a day This is in effect performing a factory reset.

and this may sound stupid and patronizing but is the TV being taken out of standby mode and actually switched on?

Tecra M4 display problems

Nope there is nothing you can do. A reddish cast to the screen is a common indication that the backlight that illuminates the screen is going south.
