Nuvi 350 - How do you get it to say the name of the street?

Neither the Nuvi 250W nor the Nuvi 205W have Text to Speech (which is the feature that allows the unit to speak the street names), so you cannot make yours speak street names. I'm sorry.

Please try this solution first. It sounds like you don't have any TTS (text to speech) voices selected.

just press done on the street selection screen without entering a number. alternatively if you know the crossing street you can enter the streets into the intersection option in the where to menu

The Nuvi 255W is capable of TTS (text-to-speech) and speaking street names. Please see this link on how to set the unit up to speak street names:

update to a new, but not too new software

The Nuvi 250 and 250W is not capable of Text to speech. Please see this link to confirm:

The Nuvi 250 and 250W can only say Turn Left or Turn Right. It can not speak the street

I have the Nuvi 200, and the voice does not tell you street names. It just says right or left.

Select a voice with TTS (Text to speech).

Question: How do I change the Voice Language setting on my nuvi 2xx?
--> Answer: All of the Garmin® automotive GPS units that speak street names are also loaded with basic voice prompts (example: Turn Right in 500 feet) as well as Text-to-Speech (TTS) voices that speak street names. If one of the basic types of voice prompts has been selected, the voice prompts will not speak street names. In order to change this setting on the nüvi® 2xx series, follow these steps:

1. In the Main Menu, touch Tools (Wrench icon).
2. Touch Settings.
3. Press the Down arrow in the bottom right corner.
4. Select Language.
5. The first line on this screen is the Voice language. Touch the Current Voice option for the GPS device listed to change the Voice.
6. Select a Voice that is labeled TTS. These will speak street names. Options without the TTS label will say the distance until the next turn, but will not include the street name.
7. Select OK. The Voice has now been changed.
