A few days ago I posted my movies and games were freezing and sometimes not even reading. Someone suggested to clean the blu-ray lens (thanks). I did, after puting the ps3 (40gb) back together... It won't even open for the disc!!!!!!! I don't know what I did wrong. All I think I did different was cleaning the lens with purified water, not lens cleaning liquid, and when opening the drive my Twilight blu-ray was still inserted, and poped out. Please help.
Hi, I think I was the one who helped you. I'll be happy to be able to do it again. You are going to have to take your DVD drive apart. When you do take it all the way down until you see the laser again,(we are starting all over just like when you cleaned the laser). Now look at the rollers, if they are open that means it thinks there is still a disc inside. While it is apart (please be very careful) plug your PS3 back in and hit the eject button, make sure that the rollers go forward and the laser and caddy go down. Next just place the top on your DVD drive and try to insert a disc, make sure the magnet is on top too. It should take the disc at this point. If it dosen't then keep hitting the eject and try to insert a disc again.. when you hit the eject with no disc in it, and it beeps twice then you know its reset and ready for a disc. Then go ahead and put your PS3 back together. What happened is your PS3 thinks that there is still a disc inside of it and won't let you insert another, until you reset the rollers and "dogs" it won't let you eject or insert a disc.Hi, I think I was the one who helped you. Hi, I think it was me who had helped you before. I will be glad to help again. Ok, first you have to tear apart your PS3 (just like when you cleaned it). Now looking at the rollers and "dogs" make sure that they are closed and not open all the way like when a disc is in it. Look at the flap on the top too make sure it opens and closes freely. Next, PLEASE BE CAREFUL!! Plug your PS3 in and try to hit the eject button, if it is reset and ready for a disc it will beep twice when you hit the eject button without a disc in it. Place the top back on the he DVD drive and try to insert a disc. At this point it should take it. If not then try hitting the eject again. Once the PS3 resets and takes and ejects discs again, then you can put it back together.

Will it play anything? The laser eye may need to be cleaned. Sometimes the drive will play DVDs but not games, or games and bluray movies, but not DVDs .... in that situation, the bluray laser may need to be replaced
You can try clear your movie data from the discs you\'ve played (according to Fox that\'s sometimes the culprit when a disc won\'t even load): restart your PS3 and go to the video menu and scroll up to the BluRay Data section. Go into it and check that it has saved some info for your movies. Now deleted all the data in this folder except the shared data crap, and hopefully your movies start perfectly!!
If that fails try the following:
In the XMB(menus) go to Settings ---> BD/DVD Settings ---> BD 1080p 24 Hz Output (HDMI). Turn that off. This has also been known to work.
Hello The noise is actually a product of dust from a blue ray disc.Over time these discs heat up and leave a residue on the blue ray lens. Try using a lens cleaner to remove dirt and clean lens. Also i read an article that using a wireless controler can also cause freezing of the blue ray.
Well from what i hear it is just that the laser inside the ps3 that reads the disc could be damaged, dirty, or even not in the right spot. sometimes the read laser that reads the disc can move from on spot to another if you hit the ps3 or if it falls (ETC).
You are Partially right.
Ps3 actually work with 2 different diode laser inside.one is Blue and one is red and both working on 2 separate circuit but with the same coil.i do believe the blue diode is dead or defective and that`s why you are able to read dvd(regular one) but no blu ray dvd or ps3 games.Try to clean your lens or replace your laser and you will resolve your problem
