Hi, I like my coffee pretty strong and I use 2/3 cup coffee to 10 cups of water... You may be able to use 1/2 cup to 10 cups if you don't want it too strong... You must experiment a bit as different coffees will vary also...
Hi
Visit this link and see if your machine is here. The possibility is that BAR 4 and BAR 14 could be one in the same machine:

Choose the Customer Service tab. On the left, notice a link to Instruction Manuals - follow that link and choose your model by following the products tree. It will give you a pdf file of the instruction manual for download.
If this is a new unit, you should return it. If you don't have that option, you'll have to open it up and tighten some screws that hold the wires into their respective barrier strips. Delonghi often doesn't tighten them quite enough. The unit will sort of work. The problem may be finding all the screws to remove to get in and that some of them are 'tamper' style. It is also possible that the temp sensors are not fitted right or are defective. Good luck.
the filter has a little indent that must be placed correctly, if you put the filter in the holder and then rotate the filter you will feel it click into place when it is in the right position ( there is a gap for the indent at the front of the holder)
If you go to the company's web site they have the owner manuals available. Here is a link to the site: http://www.delonghi.com/Int/USA/customer.html
Once there on the right navigation bar they have a link to owner manuals. Click it and it will send you to a link with their products. Choose food prep and cooking appliances. Then choose espresso machines. Find your model and click on the pdf file. This requires adobe reader so if you don't have it they have a link so you can download it.
Hope this gets you what you need.
Thanks
