This seems to happen if I forget to eject the camera icon before taking out the USB lead, even if I have turned off the computer first. Press menu button, click on SET on page 1, scroll down to FORMAT on page 2, and go to OK. The camera will initialise the card, but beware - all the pictures will be erased.

If that still doesn't work, try a cold reset with the card installed (hold down the green button as you power on, in 5-10 seconds the display will flash cold reset and you can let go and see if the printer comes to ready) Good luck! :)

My FujiPix S700 is flashing card not initialized

If you have a new xD-Picture card that says "card not initialized" go to set-up and when it says "format OK? Erase All Data" press the triangle on the left of the menu/ok circle so it goes to "OK" then it will change to an hour glass going up and down until it stops and MAGIC! the card is initialized, at least it worked for this time for me.

Card not initializing

Initializing (or formatting) the card, by definition, removes all data (this includes pictures) from the card. When formatting a memory card, by all practical purposes you are making it blank.
Hope this helps.
