Standby mode on dvd player

Every time I turn my Sony dvd player on it goes to the standby mode. It has power, but I cannot get it to play anything because it automatically goes to standby and none of the functions do anything.

  • Anonymous Apr 01, 2014

Whenever I turn the player on it stays on for a couple of seconds and goes to standby mode.

Same problem, solved by opening the cover, releasing a slipped DVD out of the tray manually, and restarting the system.

Has it recently been zapped by lightning? Ive never heard of this happening but i can tell you its not a problem you can fix. I suggest getting your money back or exchanging it for a new one.

How to get my sony dvd DVP-C670D out of standby mode without a remote?

  1. Power button: Locate the power button on the front or side of the DVD player. Press and hold the button for a few seconds until the device turns on.
  2. Power outlet: Unplug the DVD player from the power outlet and then plug it back in. This should turn the device on.
  3. Power strip: If the DVD player is plugged into a power strip, turn off the power strip and then turn it back on. This should turn the device on.
  4. Manual: Consult the manual of your DVD player if you have one, it may have a way to get the device out of standby mode.
  5. Using the buttons of the DVD player: Some DVD players have a button on the front or back of the device that can be used to turn it on and off. If the device has a button, try pressing it to turn it on.
It's worth noting that these methods may vary depending on the specific model of your Sony DVP-C670D DVD player. If none of these methods work, you may need to purchase a replacement remote control or consult a professional for assistance.

I dont know how to turn it on.... it has no power button

There is really no power button only OPTION/PWR OFF button of your player.
If you press and hold the OPTION/PWR OFF button, the screen turns off and the player enters standby mode.
If you press any button while the player is in standby mode, the "Now Playing" screen, etc., appears
and the player is ready for operation. Furthermore, if you leave the player in standby mode for about 4 hours, the player turns completely off automatically.
If you press any button when the player is turned off, the start up screen appears first, then the "Now Playing" screen appears.

Thanks.

I have a dvd from England and my old Sony DVP-C670D keeps giving me a prohibited message4 every time i try to play it. How do i unblock the region code.

Hi there,

Although no guarantee, this 'region hack' is rumoured to work:

1. Place the DVD player into 'standby' mode.

2. Using the Sony remote, press the following button sequence: Title; Clear; Power (green button); 0 (zero button)

3. Using the remote, Open the disc tray, then close again.

Now insert your disc and attempt to play - allow up to 2mins to load/play. If no response, open/close tray and try playing disc again.

Cheers,

Stuck on Standby

Do a hard reset. Unplug it from the socket, the DVD and leave disconnected for 4 hours. This may or may not help, but it is a necessary step to restore all internal software codes to their factory settings.

Hope this may help;

Won't turn on

It could be that the outputts are blown.that could be why it stays on standby. It could also be that there is a voltage that's not coming through from the power supply.
