I was using the camera when suddenly, the batteries went dead but the lens focus stayed open sticking out. so I tried putting new batteries and it wouldn't turn on so Ileft alone and haven' t since last year of april 07 I tried to connect it with an AC adapter and still it work. My first guess would be a dead cell inside the battery, or a blown fuseable link between the battery and the fuse box. Someone would need to check the battery connections and fuse box with a meter.
If starter is staying on "all the time" - your solenoid is bad. Solenoid controls power to starter. Try another solenoid and if problem continues you have a bad ignition switch.
this occurs in any device that uses battery/s in some cases a small short forms that drains the batts there is only two fixs have the fault found by a service tech and repaired ( expensive and very hard to find) or store the batts out of the camera untill its being used now if the batts are not lasting in the camera then its the batterys simple. always remember with units such as camers always always use rechargable batts they give a heck of a lot more power drive than shelff pre charged batts
make sure the batt is charging and working fine.check also the batt contacts.make sure its clean.insert batt to your camera.instead of pressing the power button, press the play button instead to power camera on. if unit turns on,might actually be an issue w/the camera unable to power on in camera mode.if it turns on initialize cam (p.75 of the manual).see if it works.if still wont turn on try using a diff batt (or if you have an optional ac adapter model#acls5k use it, attempt to power on cam to isolate issue w/power source).if batt or ac adaptor not available try to check batt with another cam if possible to test batt. if still unit doesnt turn on using a fully charged, diff batt, or using an ac adaptor,unit would reuire service. hope this info helps.thanks:)
Well Sprinkler, I have one also and had a similar problem. But I took SD card out and Batt. for 1 hole day and put back in first the batt and tried power up and it come on. I think my SD card caused the problem. Hope this helps!
