Move the red and yellow over to the other inputs, you will get sound. I have a black and white picture too. It used to be color. Haven't figured that part out yet.

if evrything is ok with the dvd (make sure the dvd is working fine), you need to hook up the yellow/ blue wires and yellow / black wires one for parking breack and the other for the breack chek the diagram on top of the alpine radio .

When hooking up DVD to phillips flat screen there is no color. only black and white.

Sounds to me like you hooked composite video(Yellow, White, Red cables) into the component video (Green, Blue, Red, White Red) connection on your TV.

Can not get a picture just sound the cables are connect right

Okay. The is kind of complicated but I think I can explain what is wrong and how to fix it. You need to tell the DVD player what resolution to broadcast on. If you have it hook up on component, I would hook it back up to composit and go through the menu's and tell it progressive scan. IF you have it hook up composite tell it regular scan. Composite cable will only have three ends on yellow, red, and white. Componite have five ends on it. Red, Green, Blue, and Red for Audio, and white.

Trying to hook up a Philips 22'' TV to Sony CD/DVD player. Need help. I have a Red, White. and Black connector to go from TV to CD Player. Do I need anytning else? TV model # 22PFL3504D/F7

Usually the Color Red and White is for the audio channels and yellow is for the video but in your case you find black instead of yellow.

So you do the connection as per the instruction given below.

TV DVD Player
Red--------------Red
White------------White
Black-------------Yellow

PLAYING DVD

check your connections on the back of the tv and back of the dvd player. make sure you are using the proper conections on the back of the tv. if you connect the RCA (composite) cables (red yellow white) you should be going from the red yellow white on the tv to the red yellow white on the dvd player. if you have the component(red blue green) connection on the dvd connected to the red yellow white on the tv, you may get a black and white picture. If this does not work, check the manual for the dvd player and see if there is a way to turn "Progressive Scan" features off, some older TV's cannot handle a progressive scan dvd player.
