I dropped my camera (oops), but on carpet. Now, it won't turn on. I've tried taking the battery out and putting it back in. I've made sure it is charged. When I turn it on, it beeps like it normally does but doesn't actually turn on. Thanks!
I have the same problem, and the two suggested solutions didn't work for me. If I press the power button it just beeps and the LED light flashed (and the same happens if I press the camera or view buttons). Removing the battery, recharging the battery, pressing "on" while inserting the battery, plugging the camera into the computer through the USB cord... None of these options work. Any suggestions? Except for the beep and the light flash, the camera appears to be entirely unresponsive.I have the same problem, and the two suggested solutions didn't work for me. My Exilim 7.2 won't turn on. Was not dropped or abused in any way. Simply removed from carry pack and nothing. Charged battery and inspected but, no apparent damage. Yesterday I was taking pictures. Today it won't turn on. And when put into the charging cradle, no charging light appears. Yes, the cradle is plugged in.

"However, weeks later - we're experiencing setup issues - we have to reinput all settings prior each usage."
I had the same problem, and I fixed it by going to 'reset' in the menu and resetting it to defaults. I think that perhaps the internal memory got scrambled somehow.
I had the same problem, and none of the solutions above helped me. In frustration, I left my camera in the charger, charging for something like a week and when I checked my camera, it worked. I'm figure that I have a problem with my battery since it is after market.
I was able to fix the problem with my camera, but in a very odd way... I started to push the lens (which were stuck in the protruding/"on" position) in with nothing more than my fingers, and suddenly they started automatically retracting into the camera. Once the lens had fully retracted, the camera could turn on again and has worked for months since!
Try placing the camera in the docking station to turn on. My camera wouldn't turn on and this is the first thing I did to resume function. However, weeks later - we're experiencing setup issues - we have to reinput all settings prior each usage. I called today 1-800-435-7732 Customer Service and they directed me to 1-800-706-2534, #5 the Casio Repair Center in Dover, NJ. I'll have to call them tomorrow during normal business hours. NOTE: WE DON'T LIKE THIS CAMERA! WE HAD A 5.0 MP BUT DAMAGED THE DISPLAY - SWAPPED OUT FOR THIS UPGRADE... WORST MOVE EVER!!!
Hi,
1). Just check whether it's in picture mode or camara mode,
2). Press the on/off button for a second & remove the battery & put it again while pressing the on/off button.

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.
Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.
It could be one of two things, you bend the lens when dropped or the pins in the lens has become loose and are stuck.
You can try:
Taking the battery out for about 5 minutes and putting it back in to reset the camera. Also you can try hold the power button down and the ok or select button to to reset it. Also can hold the power and the menu button to try and force the lens out to dislodge the pins. If not,
The funny the is that I would have you drop it again on a carpet but on the opposite side to see if you can dislodge the pins from being stuck, try and have it land flat on its back from a decent height.
If the lens in bent you will have to bring it to a repair shop to have it fixed but it usually costs as much as a new camera.
Check whether your batteries are actually making contact with the battery posts, and that these posts are clean. If not, bend the posts up/down a little, and maybe clean them with a little rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip.The next thing to try is examine both the battery and flash card door. There's usually a little switch on both doors (note some SD card doors do not have this switch) that activates when the doors are closed. If they don't, the camera won't start to prevent damage to the flash card or camera startup sequence. For most cameras its usually a little piece of plastic on the door that pushes in on a pin switch when the door is closed. Closely examine both doors to try to identify these switches. A lot of times that little plastic nib wears down or breaks off, but can easily be jury rigged with a small glued-on replacement. If you've tried all of the above and still no luck, the problem is then likely to be internal to the camera. One example would be that if your camera uses Compact Flash, check to make sure all pins are present and aligned in the card slot (if bent, simply unbend/straighten them with a skinny "jewelers" screwdriver, then insert the flash card for final realignment).
Really!....you've dropped your camera "countless" other times and now you're concerned because this time, it won't turn on!!! You're not sure what else to do?!!! How about not dropping your camera. How about using the wrist strap. Your dropping luck has run out...your camera does not have nine lives.

It does not turn on at all. I press the on button and get nothing.
