Re: dvd/cd burner i need the driver
Shouldn't need a driver for this unit if your computer isn't too old and you're using win xp or 2000. Install and check bios and it should recognize it. Usually to use these devices to burn you need something like nero or other disk burning utility that's bundled with the unit or can be purchased for around $30 or so. If it doesn't work and bios doesn't recognize it check the jumper on the rear and its position on the ribbon cable. Usually if it's set to cable select it should work but if bios doesn't recognize it on any setting it may be bad. Try it on somebody else's computer that has xp and burning software if possible

you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark?! or a red x right click you will need to update the driveror select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver hope this helps
drivers are not needed in order to cd to work, but this problem has aleazrdy been registered.
you shoul click on START, RUN, and type "regedit"
then search in the tree the branch
in this, remove the Upperfilters & Lowerfilters values.
reboot, it should work
if really not working after that, download and install the firmware update you can download at
1. go to device manager
/ right click on cd drive
/ uninstall driver
/ reboot and windows will reinstall driver
2. go to My computer
right click on cd drive
properties - check digital cd playback
recording - check enable cd recording on this drive
driver - update or uninstall
reboot your computer
3. go to support.toshiba.com
look for the EXACT model of your toshiba notebook
a) download latest BIOS
b) download the cd driver
