Read and accept the discalimer carefully this does work 100% of the time make sure that you select the correct model the black router will v1.9 firmware is the Sagem [email protected] 2504 model the others older models are Netgear DG model variations.
The NetGear DG834G is an ADSL router.
If you an ADSL internet connection, it should connect via PPPoE autentication.
This means that you must configure the username and password, on the router, provived by your internet service provider.
Please read the "Installing Your Router Using the Smart Wizard" section on the router's manual here ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/DG834Gv5_SM_31Mar08.pdf and follow the steps.
do you know who set up your router im guessing its not you as you dont have your wep key if you do have it its easy if you dont you need to connect to your router with a cable to get the wep key once done you mat need to set up your ip address on your laptop it should be 192.168.0.2 with a sub mask of 255.255.255.0 and a default gateway of 192.168.0.1 and a primary dns server of 192.168.0.1
If its just a router and not a modem router, go into the routers settings and make sure DHCP is enabled to give each pc an automatic IP address and ensure wireless is enabled if using wireless adapters.
Next go to the properties of your network card and on the TCP/IP select properties and ensure obtain IP address automatically is ticked.
You must also set up using the XP network wizard and ensure file and printer sharing is set up through both pc's.
