Illuminated reticle won't work

I have 2 like new Aetec 2.8x10 the lights won't work, have tried changing batteries and caps with working Aetecs with no change. Simmons has no customer service that I can reach. Any numbers or ideas would be helpful.

Why are gun scope/sight reticles normally red in color?

The illuminated reticles of optics are generally red and green to allow for better contrast against various dark backgrounds while also not sending a piercing light into the eyes of the shooter. Red and green are also typically not as noticeable from the barrel side of the gun as a color such as white would be.

Replace batt on NcStar Scope 3-9x42E

The battery on lighted reticle scopes is located underneath a screw off cap on the rheostat switch usually on the ocular lens housing. Hold the base of the switch with one hand and unscrew the cap with a coin. Replace the battery with a CR2032 button type battery (this is the most common battery size for these)
Hope this helps, Mark the Gunsmith

Simmons aetec, put on muzzleloader to boresight and adjustments work in reverse.

It's a common misconception to think that you're moving the bullet impact on target, when in fact you're moving the scope's reticle to look where the rifle is shooting.... So if your shooting left of your target.. you want to move the crosshairs to the right.

How do yoyu change the battery on the reticle

Most models, the battery is located within the knob switch that illuminates the reticle, and can be accessed by removing the screw cap/insert of that knob.
