1 cd player using 1 set of audio red/white
I have one set of external speakers
shaw hdpvr(audio) in - one set red/white audio get an echo when
played inconjunction with tv speakers.
Need to connect one set of audio from dvd player to play through external
speakers.
Problem: don't seem to be able to figure out how not to get echo from the
shaw signal when playing tv sound and external speakers. Also is
there a input where I can plug in dvd audioto play over external speakers.

Select another function, fx V. Aux, then press menu-button. The display should then show "Ipod assign". Use select to find "Ipod: none" and press Enter...

SOURCE: Denon AVR 1705-no audio on TV
I have had the same problem and was told that it is a "board" inside. Essentially it has lost the surround sound ability and can only play things in Direct/Stereo. Mine is just over 2 years and I originally thought my kids had hit a button on the thing causing the issue...ended up paying $100 to trouble shoot it and confirm that it is internal and more expensive to fix than replace. Can't say that I will be buying a Denon again.

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com
http://www.retrevo.com/support/Denon-DRA-395-Receivers-manual/id/363ci767/t/2/
It is an analog STEREO-only receiver so it is NOT compatible with multichannel or even digital audio. The TV is irrelevant.
Re: the iPhone:
Anything that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input. Get a cable like the one described here:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=665&seq=1&format=2
and connect it into any available analog input EXCEPT "Phono". Turn the MP3 player volume up.
