Hiding Desktop Icons in Windows XPWith a good choice of wallpaper, your computer desktop can add an attractive, even artistic, element to your home or office. Eye-catching desktop wallpaper can be as decorative in its way as a painting or other wall hanging.
If you value the aesthetic potential of your desktop, you might like to enhance it even further by hiding the desktop icons.
Hiding or showing your desktop icons in Windows XP is a simple, two-click procedure.
To hide desktop icons:
- Right-click on the desktop and open the "Arrange Icons By" sub-menu.

At this point, I can't get it into any mode. And, to be honest, I don't know what you mean by "safe mode". I'm a novelist, not a computer programmer. My 8 year old child knows more about computers than I do.
The exact same thing happened to my laptop. I sent it into HP and they told me my graphics card was bad. It was going to cost over $1000 to fix because the graphics card is part of the motherboard and they would have to replace the motherboard. I told them to send it back without fixing. I can purchase a newer, faster laptop than what it would cost to replace the mother board. My next step is to find out if an external video card could go into the external slot and override the graphics card on the motherboard. I'm not savvy in this area but an still searching for an answer. Hate the toss the thing out after only 2 years of use and $2K investment.
