Same thing here. After I switch off the tomtom one V2 I can only get it restarted after I either reset or take SD card out and put it back in.

Yes the best way around this problem is to remove sd card and charge the device for a couple of hours then press the reset button on the bottom of the device for about 20 secs replace the sd card then it should switch on and off with no problem.

I looked on the tomtom website, and what it suggested worked. It stated that you should remove the sc card, charge it, and then press the reset button for 15 secs, and then replace the card. Touch wood mine now works

My tom tom displays a red cros through memory card whe switching it on.I have tried reseting it and inserted card into pc but even pc wont read it.The pc shows there are used space on card but wont let me...

The card may have become corrupted or has failed. You can try to recover it so you can copy off the files but that isn't always succsessfull. Go to my computer. Find the card right click then click on properties and then the tools tab and then click on error checking.

time to get a new sd card even if you can restore and read the original. Once they act up they can die again and permanently at any time.

Wont take my memory card but my card in send it back out with a big red x on the card

Remove the SD card
The card needs to be formatted properly first that's all,

formatting is better done in a card reader.

Right click on it and select format select FAT32 as the files system

Now connect the tomtom but don't let tomtom home run. exit TTH if need be.

You now ned to select your tom tom which will also show as a drive.

In windows explorer select tools then folder options. Click view and tick the box for "show hidden files and folders"
It may warn you but you can ignore it.

Then just copy ALL the files from the tom tom to your sd card

DO NOT USE CUT AND PASTE !

Once all the files are on switch off the tom tom and insert the sd card

It should now work

I bought the new maps from website, and can not install

If the software crashed whilst updating, you will find that if you try to restore from a complete backup when you switch on next time it will either say you cant use the map or will just freeze, fix re format both the internal memory and the memory card, then find where tom tom home had stored the files, then using windows copy the contents from the 2 folders back into the relitive internal and external card, you will then find that you will get the mesage that you cant use the map, this is because tom tom home doesent always put the map data into the correct folder, to fix this find the licence data and the map data that has been stored on the sd card instead of the internal memory and copy it into the internal memory, before switching off press the reset button, when you switch on you should find that you have a working tom tom

When I turn on there is only a cross over the SD card.

This problem is due to the memory card not containing the TomTom application or map. To update the application onto the memory card, Connect the device to your computer. Open the TomTom Home application. Click on 'Update My Device'. This should then install the application onto the SD card. Alternativly, you could perform all the steps above without the SD card in the device, this will install the application onto the internal memory. Note: you may also need to install your maps, voices, etc after you updat.

When i turn on the tom tom one

I saved the map on to my computer from the tom tom in Tom Tom Home and installed it on to a new SD card and now it working perfectly. I bought a 2mb SD card for £6.70 put it into a card reader and connected to computer and installed map and it gave me the instructions to put into device (Tom Tom) and switch on to connect then off and back into card reader to finish. Then I disconnected device which is important to do by the way put the new Sd card into Tom Tom and it is workink perfectly. I hope this help others who have problems.

Tom tom one

This would suggest the card may be faulty. If you have a backup of the info on the card, try formatting the card and restoring the data.
