Question about Toshiba 51H83 51" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
I am having a problem with the green, I can not converge the blue and the red to the green. The green curves out of alignment. Any suggestions? Can it be repaired? Is it an easy expensive fix? I pressed the Auto Focus button on the front panel and got "Auto Focus Error" message on the screen. I was trying to resolve the two horizontal dashed-green lines appearing toward the top of the screen.
You have a convergence problem that will require the replacement of the convergence amp ics.

Your initial statement was "I can not converge the blue and the red to the green. The green curves out of alignment." That would indicate a convergence problem. In answering your second question, yes I would recommend a qualified tv repairman to service your tv. To access the conv. amps the DCU (Digital Convergence Unit) and the Hyper Pcb need to be completely removed and care to the signal pcb should be taken due to double-sided circuits that are very easy to crack or worst break.

How would the two dashed horizontal lines indicate a convergence problem? I thought convergence meant alignment of the three colors being displayed on the screen in the proper position.
Are the convergence amp ICs hard to replace or should I have a TV repair guy do the job?
