Hi to all - I just picked up a used 4100 that I was told had been in service for one year and was in working condition prior to it's removal from service. The unit powers on and goes through a clearing cycle and warm- up period. I can access menu items for setup functions. The unit does not scan items for faxing or copying and it will not print. Originals are recognized when placed into the ADF and cleared when left there during a startup routine. I have tried to print a report 1 to determine print function status and nothing happens other than printing showing on screen. I hear a slow cadence clicking sound that starts and stops. Machine eventually goes into sleep mode. I have tried a system clear. I tried a system clear. I get to parameter init keying in 91 in maintence mode but cannot escape out using 99. The seller agreed to accept $25 for the machine (has extra tray) so I have some wiggle room to invest in parts.& an repair manual download for diagrams. All suggestions regarding possible fix and a good place to get the suggested parts needed will be appreciated. - Bob Sr.
Here is the user manual, not sure how much it will help

Thanks for that link - I have the user manual - I am going to purchase a repair manual (if I get feedback that it is worth repairing) so I have access to information on replacing the suspected bad partt and for general maintenance. I see a few listed for download purchases doig a google search. Any recommendations relative to a good choice in this area would alsovbe appreciated. I was just laid off and am looking to set up a home office so I am trying to get some decent equipment as resonable as possible. This machine has high ratings so those are thevreasons I am looking into repairing this myself. Thanks again.
i have the same problem with my machine. did you get your working?
thanks
steve
My customers called me and said that my faxes were terrible. Every page has vertical lines blackened three quarter page. It happens to all the copies I made, too. Received copies are just fine.
Anyone if the scanning light or glass is the problem?
Can it be fixed? and where?
