New rowenta effective iron that doesn't heat and steam correctly
My new rowenta effective iron is not working as it should. It doesn't heat when a light on the side is not on. My book says this light is a water indicator but I think it is a sensor of some kind. I have shaken iron , added water turned fabric dial up pluged and repluged to get it on. It has taken me as long as 5 miniutes to get it on. I don.t like it at all.

There are two cause. One the boiler resistance doesn´t turn of because of snap disc or bimetal thermostat fault or because a coil in the working valve (security valve). But if you can heard a click of opening movement of valve when you push the button it is able to be a thermostat.

From the first day, iron shuts itself off while ironing. ... The last 3 have either leaked everywhere or the cord where it joins the iron keeps switching the iron off. ..... from the stainless steal down the right side of the iron and was leaking water all ...
Some irons like Rowenta have a self cleaning feature. If yours doesn't make a solution of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water and put it in your iron. Plug it in and allow it to heat that up. keep working your instant steam button for a while. Hopefully the vinegar will help remove the calcium build up and let it work.
Sounds like the Steam control valve is blocked or not opening. try cleaning the iron with a kit from wallmart or similar store. Failing that :It may be cheaper to buy a new one from wallmart or similar store.
This is a problem with a lot of Rowenta irons. It is the auto shut off that is not working properly and the only way to fix it is to have it disassembled and the switch hardwired to be on whenever the iron it plugged in. It is a thermal metal switch and it just stops working and then the iron will not turn on and the yellow light blinks.
