Internet disconnect I have a self built PC and previously thought it was my internet provider causing my PC to constantly disconnect when under any download pressure or fast surfing between pages but after moving to a new provider I found this is still happening. More if anything. Can you help me with this issue. I am lead to believe this may be a driver issue

Wasnt sure what this was at first till I looked it up. I downloaded a program called Dr TCP. This apparently controls my MTU. I tried on 1500 and also on 1492 but it never made any difference to the issue

ok actually went out and brought a network card which has helped. I have narrowed the problem down. My motherboard has some kind of safety cut-off which makes my internet fail when downloading. By installing a seperate nework card I have bypasses this safety featue and now when under pressure my PC goes into a blue screen error and freezes or restarts

It could be a problem with your router. You can try to change the MTU value. Mine is at 1492.

I also had this problem and i solved it to buy a cheap pci 10/100 network card. The problem was the onboard broadcom network controller from my asus p4g8x deluxe motherboard.

does your modem also has wireless. maybe you can try wireless

I have had constant disconnection from internet for the past 6 months, I even purchase a new modem/router (2Wire from AT&T) and in addition, my son has XBox Live. The internet goes out whether he is...

With your problem its related to your internet service provider that can be a problem from their end which is causing your constant disconnection, and your ISP should do some checking on your line..

Hope that helps.....

Internet keeps disconnecting - Internet disconnect

Having intermittent internet disconnects? There could be a couple of causes for this issue. Your internet could be degraded when it gets to your house causing disconnects. You will have to contact your Internet Service Provider in order to have them resolve this issue. Normally, they will replace splitters and may even replace lines outside of your house. You could also be having problems with the modem directly. The may replace this. If you have a modem that you bought that was not provided by your ISP, you can try to update the firmware on the modem.

If using a modem
I recommend you unplug the router, plug the computer directly in the modem and see if you still have the problem. If you still have the problem then you know it is just the modem. If the problem resolves itself then you know the most likely culprit is the router.

I would also recommend that you update your router firmware as well. Do a google search for the brand name of the router and go to the companies website, look in the support/downloads section for updated software.
--If possible, try a different Ethernet port on your router. You may have a bad port.
--Take out and reinsert all Ethernet cables on your network. Loose cables can cause disconnects.
--If possible, replace the Ethernet cables. Bad cables can cause this.

Lastly, you could be having an issue with the Network card(NIC) on your computer. Network cards are either built into the modem or external(a card you insert into the motherboard). Using the process of elimination and the steps above, you can hopefully narrow down the problem to one specific component of your network.

I log into facebook and keep getting a message internet not able to connect operation aborted but no problems connecting to anything else. been happening for days now

This is probably due to your internet connecting then disconnecting due to poor connection, which is especially possible if you are using the internet over a WiFi connection. This would not cause a problem on most websites because the internet is built to handle unsteady connections, but Facebook has built there own software to not connect if this happens.

The best solution would be, if you are using WiFi, to get closer to the router or to upgrade your router. If you are not, you should contact your internet provider.
