I have a Samsung camcorder and there is a message on screen namely 'protection' which I cannot remove. I have tried recording to no avail and I have even changed the tape to a new tape and the word still appears on screen. Can you help?

My Samsungcamcorder one day displays protection. Used or new tape no difference. Used the menu options to remove protection and it gives me a play mode alert. Regardless I can not record in protection mode. Help!
Remove the DV tape from the camcorder and check the position of the red tab on top of the tape. Reverse the position and see if it protection goes away.
If your camera uses video tapes, they have a little sliding piece on the back to stop you accidently recording on an important tape you want to keep. Slide it over for 'save' to 'rec' and you can record on it.
have suddenly getting a "Protection" message in Camera mode. - The viewfinder is OK and i can see the view but a "Protection!" message is blinking in the middle of the screen and the record button is not working if i press
This seems to be an on going problem with all of the Samsung models sooner or later. 1st, check to make sure the protection tab on top of the tape is in record mode. Remove battery, wait a minute and replace battery, turning on the camera, place tape back into camera and close the door. If this does not work, the sensor is not reading that the tape is not protected. It is a service call but not worth the 150-195 in repairs to correct. Sometimes you just need to keep going, and going....
